Glooscap Community Playground

Official Opening of the Glooscap Community Playground - On September 25th we celebrated our new playground (there was cake!) with guests from the Provincial Department of Health and Wellness; from the Municipality of Kings; local Community Health Boards; and the Superintendent of Schools, Margo Tait; plus Sandy Fraser, our elected school board member. It was an opportunity for the students to express their gratitude for the many grants and corporate donations received and acknowledge the community support that made this project a success. Thank you to the committee members including: Krista Oulton representing the parent community; Kim MacQuarrie, Municipal Councillor for our district; Stephanie Wadden, Canning Recreation; and Everett MacPherson, Canning Village Chair, for their energy and vision and for the many hours they logged with us to ensure the Playground become a reality. We are grateful to the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board for their contributions of pea gravel and ongoing maintenance of the structure; and thank you to parents and students who found ways to contribute to the project by supporting Home and School fundraising activities; and also the students whose entrepreneurial spirit contributed to the cause through their individual fund raising activities
